Shire Hall Museum Consultation
Residents and visitors can now have their say on what exhibitions they want to see at the Shire Hall Museum.
MonLife Heritage is in the process of moving Monmouth Museum into the Shire Hall and is looking for which collections residents and visitors would like to see exhibited.
An online survey is now available to gather feedback on themes and activities that would attract visitors to the museum. Whether you’ve been before or have never visited, we want to create a museum full of history and activities for everyone.
Shire Hall will be a modern and engaging museum based on community conversations to ensure that it is relevant and representative for all of our visitors. It will bring local stories alive, as well as events and activities that we all want to see and participate in.
Following the feedback, our project team will work with architects and museum design teams to develop plans to create a new museum in Shire Hall.
Previously, we have been working with local communities, consulting on various themes and ideas, as well as creating several focus groups. These explored the topics and stories we could tell within the future Museum galleries.
From August 2024, we will begin to explore initial designs for the building layout and space allocation, as well as the look and feel of the future galleries. We also need to talk to our visitors and local residents to understand the events and activities that you would like to see.
We have previously worked with young people aged between 16 and 25 and will continue to consult with them to find out what they would like to see in our heritage sites. We are specifically working with them at Shire Hall to ensure there are spaces that are relevant to them.
