• This series of ten lectures takes us through the Art of Spain from the late medieval period to the early 20^th century, beginning with the influence of Islamic design from the Muslim south on art in the northern Christian kingdoms of what is now Spain. Highlights include the dramatic narratives and powerful portraits of Spain’s Golden Age in the 17^th Century; Goya’s art with its contrasting images of royalty and the darker side of war and superstition, and the influence that Spain’s Modernists had on every aspect of painting in the 20^th century.
