Jay Rayner talks to Tim Hayward about his new book ‘Nights Out At Home: Recipes and Stories from 25 years as a Restaurant Critic’

September 21 @ 3:30 pm

£12 – £30

Jay’s first cookbook is inspired by the dishes that have stolen his heart over his long career as a restaurant critic; collected, taken home and carefully reverse-engineered in his kitchen: where Jay is no slouch, as he demonstrated when he destroyed the opposition to win MasterChef: Battle of the Critics 2023.

Nights Out at Home is not just a recipe book. Seasoned with anecdotes, and told with Jay’s customary wit and warmth, it’s also the story of his 25 years as a restaurant critic for The Observer; a story he shares here with fellow restaurant critic, Tim Hayward.
Jay Rayner is an award-winning writer, journalist and broadcaster. He has been the restaurant critic for The Observer since 1999 (garnering millions of views per year), and has presented the BBC Radio 4 show The Kitchen Cabinet for over a decade. In March 2023 he was named Critic of the Year in the UK Press Awards. Tim Hayward is the Fortnum & Mason 2024 Restaurant Writer of the Year. His latest book is Steak: The Whole Story.
Our local award winning independent bookshop ‘Book-ish’ will be facilitating book signings after this event.
Admission and book £30 (bookretails at £22 so £4 discount)
